Hajj rewards early planning more than almost any journey.

Eighteen months out. Register your interest and secure a place. Premium Haram-view allocations close first, usually within weeks of release.

Twelve months out. Passports must have at least six months' validity beyond your return date. Renew now rather than later.

Nine months out. Vaccination requirements are published. Meningitis ACWY is always required; other requirements vary by year.

Six months out. Balance payments are due and the visa file is opened. Nusuk account details are collected at this stage.

Three months out. Rites workshops begin. Attend in person if you can.

One month out. Packing, currency, and the medical letter for any prescription medicines you carry.
